SAMANTHA WHEELER
SAMANTHA WHEELER
Samantha visited Trinity College South on Wednesday 16th March 2016.
The presentation was held in the Chapel.
The children loved listening to the story Sam told about herself as a little girl, and especially that she found stories difficult to write!
One day as a grown up she saw a koala happily eating gum leaves in a tree, and the next day the trees had been bulldozed. The trees and the koalas were no longer in the paddock! Where had they gone?
This encouraged Sam to research, and try to find a way to stop the environments of animals being destroyed.
This was very difficult.
Sam decided to write stories about animals that may encourage children to be aware of the need of conserving habitats for the survival of our Australian animals.
Sam also told us about the strategies she used to create and write her stories.

Tristan made his MY LIFE series of books, come alive by telling funny stories of his own real life experiences - see his reading Tip 2!
His book, 'Two Wolves' won a Children's Book Council of Australia Honour Award, in 2015.
Tristan was driven creating this book to explore how the characters, Ben and Olive would respond to knowing that their parents had done something to break the law and they were all on the run!
This book has suspense, excitement and a great read for 10+! It's almost impossible to put down!
